WPC decking is an outdoor decking board made of wood plastic composite, widely used for terraces, courtyards, balconies, poolside areas, boardwalks, roof gardens and commercial outdoor seating zones. It is also known as wood plastic composite decking, outdoor WPC decking, co-extrusion WPC decking, 3D embossed WPC decking and WPC composite floor. It combines the natural appearance of timber with the dimensional stability of plastic, making it a common alternative to solid wood in outdoor applications.

In terms of composition, the board consists of 40% PE, 40% calcium powder, 5% wood powder and 15% other additives, and is formaldehyde-free. PE provides toughness and water resistance to the matrix, calcium powder improves strength and dimensional stability, wood powder delivers a colour and texture close to natural timber, and the remaining additives improve processing performance and batch consistency. The four components are compounded and extruded together, giving a continuous grain and even colour that suits large continuous installations.

Two surface processes are available: 3D embossing and co-extrusion. The 3D embossed version reproduces growth rings, grain channels and natural variation through deep embossing, creating rich visual depth and a clearly textured surface underfoot. The co-extrusion version adds a co-extruded layer to the surface, producing a finer finish and fuller colour, and is well suited to terraces and commercial spaces with high appearance requirements. Both processes cover a range of light and dark wood tones, making it easy to coordinate with facades, railings, fencing and outdoor furniture.

The specification range is comprehensive: board widths from 138mm to 150mm, thicknesses from 20mm to 25mm, a standard length of 2900mm that can be customized for projects, and weights from about 1.8kg/m to 3.0kg/m. Width determines the rhythm of the laying pattern – narrower boards suit smaller platforms and fine joints, while wider boards are better for open terraces and boardwalks. Thickness directly affects span and load performance: the 20mm class suits standard pedestrian platforms, while the 23mm to 25mm class is better for high-traffic areas, larger spans or zones with outdoor furniture. The weight per meter helps estimate batten spacing, shipping weight and floor loading at the design stage.

The product is not a single board but a complete installation system: alongside the decking boards, it includes wood-plastic or aluminum battens, stainless steel connection clips, starter clips and L-shaped edge trims. The battens provide the raised supporting frame, the clips form concealed connections between boards, the starter clips set the initial alignment, and the edge trims close off and conceal the batten and board gaps. All four accessory types are designed as one system, so the finished surface has continuous lines with no exposed screw heads.

In application, WPC decking covers both residential and commercial settings. Residential projects typically include courtyard terraces, entrance platforms, balconies, poolside areas and roof gardens; commercial projects include outdoor leisure areas of hotels and guesthouses, restaurant terraces, scenic boardwalks and waterside platforms. Boards can be laid longitudinally for continuous lines, or divided with pattern changes and edge trims to define different zones, working together with railings, fencing and outdoor furniture to form a complete outdoor space.

Day-to-day maintenance is minimal: WPC requires no painting, waxing or periodic anti-rot treatment. After installation, rinse off construction dust with clean water, and periodic rinsing keeps the appearance and underfoot comfort, resulting in low long-term cost.

Installation uses raised battens with concealed clip fixing, so the boards never contact the ground directly: battens are laid and fixed at 300–350mm center spacing, boards are connected with concealed clips, and expansion gaps are left at ends and against fixed objects. This raised method allows air circulation beneath the boards and makes single-board replacement and service access easy. Detailed illustrated installation guidance is available on request.

Boards are packed in inner cartons with optional outer pallets for long-distance transport. Each pack contains 4–5 pieces, with 20GP loading of about 3050–3300 pieces and 40HQ of about 3640–3870 pieces; exact figures are available per specification to help with container and freight planning.
